Visit Connemara, explore this wild, barren landscape, take in the beautiful sights of the lakes, mountains and the wild Atlantic. You will also be enthralled by the history, botany and geology that you will be introduced to by our guides. For the duration of the trip, our guide will endeavour to educate you on the flora and fauna, history and the geology of the area. We will also try to answer any questions you might have. We believe this tour is a must for any visitor to Ireland.

We leave Dublin early, 6.30am, to give ourselves as much time as possible in the beautiful Connemara national park and we aim to be back in Dublin around 7.00pm after a full eventful day.

You will experience the magnificent views of Connemara provided by the dramatic landscape of the Twelve Bens and Maumturk mountain ranges on one side and the wild Atlantic Ocean on the other. We will bring you to areas of outstanding beauty and historical relevance. From feedback received from our guests, we guarantee that sights and experiences gleaned from this experience will remain with you for a long time!

Please Note: The Killary harbour boat trip doesn't operate during the winter so as a substitute we provide a trip to a working sheep farm where you will be given a sheepdog exhibition and brought to a Bog to see Turf being cut. This has been an important provider of fuel to the Irish through the generations.

6:30am

We depart from Suffolk Street outside the old stone church

8:30am approx.

We will have a shot coffee stop along the way as we take the scenic route to Oughterard, ' The Gateway to Connemara'. You are now in a Irish (Gaeltacht) area. We will pass through many quaint towns and enjoy beautiful scenery before we enter the national park, which has no boundary lines but is marked by its truly outstanding beauty and panoramic, unspoiled views. Enjoy this truly unique part of Ireland. We will pass through the village of Leenane where the iconic film "The Field" was shot - a must see for any film buff. The story of the Bull McCabe captures the Irish mind set of the value of land above all things. From here, we will continue in a circular route towards Galway taking in views of the Sheefry Hills.

10:30am

Time to visit the only Fjord in Ireland: 'Killary Fjord'. Enjoy the views across the water of Mweelrea, the highest mountain range on the west coast and marvel at the mussel beds in the harbour. During the high season (April - October) this tour includes a one and a half hour boat cruise around Killary harbour. Your lunch stop will be on the boat during these months.  During the low season (November - March) the boat cruise does not run but instead we will visit the Killary Sheep Farm, a traditional farm with approximately 200 ewes and lambs that roam freely around the fjord. You will be given a skilled sheepdog demonstration and told about how the people and the livestock cope with the barren land and the harsh weather. You will also be given a demonstration on Turf cutting. Maybe turn a sod yourself!

12:00pm

Next stop is "Kylemore Abbey", where we will stop for some photos and lunch.  (entry not included). Once a prestigious girls boarding school, it now homes nuns on retreat and welcomes tourists from everywhere around the world. The abbey is situated at the base of the Druchruach mountains with views out to the northern shore of Lough Pollacapall. You will be allotted sufficient time to enjoy the views, history and the pure beauty of this place.

2:00pm

We will travel through the fabulous Inagh Valley, which was featured in the mobile phone add "can you hear me now", a line every Irish person says when reception is poor. This is a beautiful area and if you can't get a good picture here, you can't get one anywhere!

4:00pm

Back in Galway City, take an hour to explore the narrow streets and visit some craft shops or visit some of the many tourist attractions, the Cladagh Ring Museum, Galway Cathedral and Galway harbour with the magnificent Spanish Arc are but a few. Galway is a vibrant city with lots going on in the streets, in the pubs and in the theatres. It was also the last port of call for Columbus before his trip to discover America!

7:30pm

Back in Dublin after a long, yet full day of sights and adventure!
