Day trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum - from Sorrento
Don't miss this opportunity to visit both Herculaneum and Pompeii, possibly the most well preserved example of a Roman residential town in the world.
You'll start with a visit to Herculaneum, a residential coastal town which has been superbly preserved beneath the volcanic mud which rained down upon the city during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. You'll have time to view the town before the guided tour begins. The buildings in Herculaneum have been so well preserved that you can walk down streets which are pretty much unchanged from Roman times of more than 2000 years ago.
You'll see many of the buildings, like the House of the Argus and the public baths, with preserved frescoes and mosaics, and a house full of carbonised furniture!
Next it's on to Pompeii. The tour of Pompeii is approx two hours in duration and will include all the sights in the ancient city including the baths, bakeries, arena and brothel. You will return to Sorrento for approximately 4.30pm.
Highlights of the Tour:
- One hour guided tour of Herculaneum
