Half Day Pompeii - from Naples
Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Following the eruption of the Volcano Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years. The Town is high on the list of Wonders of the World and the excavations, which began in the 18th Century, are still being carried out today!
There are 44 hectares of area excavated, which make up an archaeological site that has no equal in the world. A trip to the ancient Pompeii is not to be missed, the guided tour lasts approximately two hours and leads through various routes, around the area of the Forum, the Baths, the Eumachia market, the Basilica, the Lupanare, the Grand Theatre, the Odeion and the Portico, the Villas, the Domus and the shops of the rich Roman patricians and skilled Pompeian traders.
The tour will show you something of the lifestyle of the ancient inhabitants of the Town, and you'll be astonished by the number of villas, shops and public buildings that archaeologist brought back to light. Also, you will stop in a local fabric, to look at the productive process of Cameos and Corals.
Once you have explored everything this famous town has to offer it will be time to head back to Naples.
