Historical Malacca

No visit to the country is complete without visiting UNESCO Heritage Site of Malacca!

This historic town is a living testimony to the multicultural heritage of traditional Asia and European colonial influences. Here is where the western influence started and where many battles have been fought to gain control of this strategic area located at the centre of the East Indies' Spice trade.

Visit St Peter's Church, dating from 1710 and the oldest Christian church in the country, believed to be the burial place of St Francis Xavier, a priest who played a vital role in the history of Malacca and won the hearts of the local villagers.

We will drive past the Bukit China also known as Chinese Hill, the largest Chinese cemetery outside China, and stop at the foothill to view the Sultan's Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement.

On our tour we will visit the famous gateway Porta de Santiago and the ruins of St Paul's Church.

Next we will head to the Red Square, the salmon pink administrative buildings that were used by the Dutch and that today house the Malacca Museum and government offices.

Before lunch we will visit Christchurch and enjoy the Abode Merciful Clouds or the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the only temple where you can find 3 major doctrines of local Chinese belief: Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism.
