The Big Bus sightseeing tour is the perfect introduction to one of the greatest cities in Europe. The Hop on, Hop off tour showcases the most famous landmarks and explains Vienna’s rich cultural history.

Vienna developed from early Celtic and Roman settlements into a Medieval and Baroque city. It is regarded as the City of Music due to its musical legacy and it’s also known as the City of Dreams because it was home to Sigmund Freud, the world's first psycho-analyst.

On the Big Bus sightseeing tour, you will discover Vienna’s rich history through an informative personal commentary. Throughout the tour you will witness a wealth of stunning architecture that can be seen in the city’s beautiful castles and gardens, grand monuments and pristine parks. The Austrian capital encompasses all the traditions of a European city, from Roman foundations through to Gothic and Baroque.

This bus tour allows you to explore the city at your leisure and all our double decker buses will offer you a panoramic view of Vienna for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the sights of the city. You can hop on/off at any stops on our Red and Blue route.

FREE Walking Tour City Walk: The tour is available daily and takes approx. 90 minutes to complete. Starting at approx.11:30am from Stop 1 "Opera": Witness the breath-taking buildings by the Habsburg family and learn about their secret life and fascinating stories. Along the way you will see the Sisi Museum, Spanish Riding School, Heldenplatz and Capuchin’s Crypt. (available with the Premium & Deluxe Tickets ONLY)

Highlights:

  • Hop on or off at any of the numerous stops on the red and blue routes throughout the city.
  • There is multilingual commentary available on board.
  • The Red bus tour has 16 stops starting at the Opera and runs approx. every 15-20 mins in summer and approx. every 20-30 minutes in winter from approx. 9:30am until 6pm in summer and 4:30pm in winter and lasts approx. 1hr 45 mins.
  • The Blue bus tour has 8 stops starting from Museums- Hofburg and runs approx. every 20-30 mins in summer and approx. every 30-45 mins in winter from approx. 9:30am until 6pm in summer and 4:30pm in winter and lasts approx. 1hr 25 mins.
  • Bus times may vary as they are dependent on traffic conditions.
  • Your Premium & Deluxe ticket also includes a FREE walking tour City Walk.
  • The Premium & Deluxe tickets also include a FREE Hundertwasser Tour. This is access to the Green Route – a unique cabriolet minibus tour to Hudertwasserhaus the famous expressionist apartment building.

Ticket is valid for 72hrs from first use and once confirmed you simply hand it to the driver at any of the designated stops in the city on either route.

The Red Route: Operates daily, excluding 22nd April. The route has 16 stops starting at the Opera and runs every 15-20 minutes from approximately 9:30am until 6pm and the tour lasts approx. 1hr 40 mins.

The Blue Route: Operates daily, excluding 22nd April. The route has 8 stops starting at the Museums - Hofburg and runs every 20-30 minutes from approximately 10am until 5pm and the tour lasts approx. 1hr 25 mins.

Please Note: Timings are always subject to change and traffic dependent so please do check with a member of Big Bus Staff locally if you are unsure.

FREE Walking Tour -  City Walk: Departs from the Opera. The tour is available daily, excluding 22nd April at 11:30am and takes approx. 90 minutes to complete. Please ensure you arrive at the Opera at least 5 mins from tour start time.

FREE Hundertwasser Tour - This is the green route - a unique cabriolet minibus to Hudertwasserhaus the famous expressionist apartment building.
Tour Departs: From Albertinaplatz (near Stop 1) every hour from 10am until 3pm and lasts approx. 20 mins each way.

Child age is 5-15 years. Anyone under 5 years old travels free of charge as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult (1 adult to 1 child) and so long as they do not occupy a seat to the detriment of fare paying passengers.
