On this excursion you will see all that Holland is made of - past and present! Visit typical fishermans villages Volendam & Marken, drive through Dutch countryside and see the unique Windmills of Zaanse Schans and learn about its history.

We take you to the picturesque former island of Marken, a traditional old village where you will also visit an authentic clogmaker!

From Marken, a boat will take you to Volendam where we will visit the Cheese-factory and museum and see a demonstration on cheese making, whereafter you have free time to e.g. have lunch, go shopping or try some typical salted herring. You'll be amazed at the traditional clothing the people here still wear too.

Our visit to the famous windmill village of Zaanse Schans brings a visit to a beautiful working windmill. We will show you its characteristic green wooden houses. At the turn of the 18th century this was an industrial area with approx. 700 fully operational windmills. Nowadays there are only 5 of them left.

This tour gives you a typical taste of Holland in every sense of the word!

Departure location: Tour leaves from De Ruijterkade 34a, in the IJ hall of Central Station on the far eastern side.
