Las Palmas

Las Palmas

The largest city in the Canary Islands, cosmopolitan Las Palmas with its three beaches and large sea port, is a hive of activity. Located on the north east side of the island, historic Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s old quarter (Vegueta district) has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990. Ships arrive into Puerto de la Luz harbour from Africa, Europe, China and the Middle East with businesses from these origins lining the streets of Las Palmas’ business areas. However bustling Las Palmas is overflowing with Spanish ambiance and culture, with its regular summer time sailing regattas, gothic Cathedral, Latin-American influenced colonial contemporary art collections and many museums.
